Lake City, Colorado campgrounds?

Want to take a late August trip to Lake City. Want to stay in/near town in our 25' Outback. Driven through there a couple of times. We'll be doing the Alpine Loop and other ATVing as well as some hiking. Don't want to stay on the Ouray side of the Loop. I've checked rvparkreviews but would like to hear from folks who've stayed there.

Wood Lake RV Resort is nice. Just remember it is a very popular area, and they are already taking reservations for 2018.

Us too,,

We are also venturing though Lake City last of August or early September. We have traveled a bit but this will be our first time pulling in the rockys,, do you have any words of wisdom regarding overnight stops without reservations,, obviously vacancies in the good spots would be unlikely, just wondering if there are any minimal facilities in the area,, parking lots,, road sides,,???

We are native Coloradans and we spend a week or two in lake city every year, and when we go we stay in a little campground with no services literally in the shores of lake Sancristobal. It is one of the most beautiful places in Colorado. The RV parks in town are all about the same. You park close enough to your neighbor you can't put out your awning and if you've both got slides only on opposite sides its can be tricky. The little campground along the lake doesn't take reservations but you can look it up online. They are in Hinsdale county. We ATV right from the shore of the lake over Cinnimon pass and down into Silverton. It's awesome.

If this is the one you mean, yes, it's a beauty.
