Lake George or Finger Lakes
Looking for a campground suggestion at either location that has full hookups, but we would like a wooded site. Have a 34' 5th wheel and long bed PU so swing area is a concern. Can't have a tree at the corners.

It will be more difficult to find that in the Finger Lakes than Lake George. The atmosphere is very different between the two places. What do you really want to do after parking?

Lake George RV Park is 5 Star on so many levels.
And your rig is not the largest rig I've seen there. Just let them know your rig size and they'll have a site for you.
Focus on what you want to do for your vacation between the two locations you mentioned.

You can find more or less what you want either place.
Lake George is more or less boardwalk type party city. More rides and kid attractions. They have a lot more higher end places to park your camper and the Adirondack Mountains right there for more interesting hiking.
The Finger Lakes has a bit of that but is much more spread out with all the wineries, distilleries and breweries many of which have food. The Finger Lakes will be pressing wine so anyplace that does tours as well as tastings should be interesting. From what you say you might want to be on the south end around Watkins Glen, Corning or Ithaca. Each of those places has it's own set of attractions as well as the "normal" stuff. ;-) If you go there check out Hammondsport with the Curtiss Museum and the Boat Museum.

A big thanks. We are not party people so the Finger Lakes area sounds good. I'll check out Hammondsport and WG

You may want to check out the Western, Erie Canalway area. Great biking trails with reasonably flat terrain.

KOA @ Watkins Glen is a perfect fit that size unit! We parked our 40' 5th wheel in a shaded area with no problems last year. Right in the middle of wine country located at the base of Seneca Lake! The finger lakes area will also be a tad warmer that time of the year too!!

Not taking anything away from the Finger lakes, as we're heading thru Letchworch state park next weekend, but there's a lot in the Adirondack's, Lake George and Lake Placid being very commercialized, but so much more there

Uh, most of that is dry camping in the daks. After that it comes down to what kind of there you want be part of.

Lake Placid and Adirondack area is a little too far, I think we've decided on Pinecreek Campground up around the Finger Lakes. Thanks everyone for your replies it was a great help

Looks good. Please do a trip report so we can see what your thought of the campground. ;-)
I think you will find that area is hilly for bikes. OTOH there is a lot of bike touring in the area so ask around or check for a guide book. I think you can get some flattish routes following lake shores, river valleys, or up on the ridges between the lakes.
Watkins Glen has the race track as well as the Glen, food and some great shopping.
Hammondsport is the Curtis Museum, Boat Museum, food and interesting shopping.
Don't know Ithaca. Wineries, breweries and distilleries all over. If you are there on a Saturday do the Windmill a bit south of Pennyan. If you are there excellent pie at Indian Pines, Ice Cream at Seneca Farms. ;-)

Pine Creek by Ithaca? You'd better read RV Parks reviews. Look at my May 16 review. Not a bad place, but access is very difficult if you go the wrong route. FWIW stay at Watkins Glenn and enjoy the toad ride in to Ithaca.
