We are going to Quartzite, we have reservations for the first of the year thru April 1st. Lucky I guess I made reservations one day(about a month ago) and the next day they emailed me that they had a cancel and we got what I believe was a better site. How far is it from the lake too Quartzite?
Thanks, Tim
Next to San Diego Lake Havasu is my favorite city in the United States. Lake Havasu is worth the drive just to get there.

In Lake Havasu City you have to reserve a spot in the Summer or even as early as early spring while your still there. Last minute snowbirds find it almost impossible to get a place. Cause everything is booked now.

Hey Spitz. To answer your question. Quartzite is about 70 miles from Lake Havasu, 150 miles to Yuma, and Yuma is 7 miles from US/Mexico border. I lived in Yuma for 3 and 1/2 years back before the boarder was closed. Went to the flee market in Mexico on the weekends.

The RV parks are to often to crowded for me. I am a country boy so I like breathing room and the open space of the desert. Plus I don't need all the fancy luxuries in the park I will never use. I have a reserved 1/2 acre private lot on Deseret Palm Drive between North and South Pale Verde Ave that I return to every year. For four months from Dec to April. It has Full hookups with 30 amp service. Plus because I am at the edge of town in Havasu, it's a 5 minute drive to the mall and I can walk to the lake from my lot in 15 minutes. I love taking my dog on long walks in the morning. The sunrises in Lake Havasu are undescribably beautiful.[/QUOTE]

LHC by Hang Glider

We came down to Lake Havasu City last November in our Class A and stayed at Crazy Horse Campground -- great lake sites!

We loved it so much that we bought a park model and stayed through the summer. Too hot!

Anyway, LHC is great for desert jeeping, boating on the Colorado, festivals, etc, etc.

Here's a bird's-eye view of LHC. The first large campground you see is Crazy Horse.

Crazy Horse Campground is one of my favorites in all of Lake Havasu. If your going to be in a rv park in the city, the space rent is not that bad considering some of the beach front properties will cost you almost $700.00 a month. Since Lake Havasu is the most expensive city in Arizona. Funny it turns out I use their dump station from time to time because at only $5 bucks, it's the cheapest in town. LOL No more Arizona summers for me. 3 and half years in Yuma at 138 degrees in the summer was bad enough. There's an old saying, if you can survive a summer in Arizona, you can survive anything.

Well finally made it to Lake Havasu. I am sitting in the Mohave County Library as I write this. It's 69 and overcast outside. A beautiful day in the city. Although one of the hydraulic lifters got stuck in the engine on my MH. Had to use stp oil treatment to help in fixing the problem.

Now all you have to do is head over to College Street Brewery and have yourself a Blue Van!.....

The south side of Parker Dam is pretty darn nice too. We've been here at Buckskin Mtn SP for the past week. Kayaking on the river is fantastic. This is view 50 feet from the door of the coach. Also great kayaking just before the dam in the Bill Williams Nat'l Wildlife Preserve.

On the weekends take a ride on the dirt up to the Desert Bar for cold beer, great sandwiches and music (lunch, not dinner... they close at sunset). There is an easy dirt road from the south at Cienega Springs Rd or a challenging 4WD trail starting from the side of the market just across from River Island SP.

I little too challenging for my Mule but definitely fun and very scenic. I do love the River below the dam. We will be holding a Lucas Oil Dragboats National Event at the Bluewater Casino in Apr 2015. Can't wait to get back there again, this time in our, new to us, MADP.
