Not sure of your planned route, as Branson and Lake of the Ozarks would not both be easily visited in a trip from FL to MI (check a map), but the main destination point for the Lake of the Ozarks (which is a pretty big area!) is Osage Beach. There, you really have only one choice for a big rig: Osage Beach RV Park Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri Campgrounds - Osage Beach RV Park
For Branson, the Alpine Coach rally was held at America's Best Campground. Folks seemed to like that campground and others on this site have highly recommended the City of Branson Lakeside RV Park.

thanks dave and jamie! you probably thought we were nuts on the routing we're just tired of the same way home so we decided to add a few more miles on (about 900) and go see something different. thanks again! jim

jim & sue (beaverjim):
Don't know if your open to suggestions, ...but... ya might think about a visit to Mountain View, Arkansas on your way N. We visited Mt. View on our way S. here to FL, this past Oct., and found it to be among one of the greatest stops we've experienced. It's an absolutely WONDERFUL mountain music venue and would strongly suggest staying at the "Ozark RV Park" right adjacent to the Ozark Folk Center (Park/Auditorium/Village). Ya won't regret a visit of at least a few days.
Access is relatively easy with good roads into and out of the area, even for our 45 ft. Newmar Essex towing a Honda Element. Approaching from the S., consider going through Memphis following I-55 and almost immediately N. of the I-40/I-55 jct., follow AR. Hwy. 64 West (see map) over to Bald Knob, AR, then N. on 167 up to Batesville, then West on AR Hwy. 14 through Pleasant Grove on into Mt. View.
When leaving Mt. View, simply follow Hwy. 66 out of Mt. View going West over to Leslie, AR, then N. on AR Hwy. 65 to Branson.
It's probably not as direct as you were thinking, but since your headed to Banson anyway, thought it might be something you might enjoy. Steve & Lynette

I'd second the suggestion by Chickadee on a stop at Mountain View, AR. We were there a couple of nights about 3 weeks ago and attended their Fall Bluegrass festival. it was a great experience. I see they have a Spring Bluegrass event scheduled for March 11-13. You will need reservations to get into the campground adjacent to the grounds during the festival.
We like Compton's Ridge CG at Branson. Much more to see and do in Branson than at Lake of the Ozarks (my opinion).
