Lake of the Ozark's camping
We are looking for a good place to camp at Lake of the Ozark's. Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone stayed in the state park? If so what are your thoughts? Not sure if we want to stay in the park or perhaps Osage Beach area.
Camping in a Reyo, 25t, so no big problem driving around.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Sue

Have you consider camping in Roaring River State Park, close to Eagle Rock, Mo. , highway 86 , shaded spots and good location to fish for trout or sightseeing.

Roaring River State Park is close to Table Rock Lake not Lake of the Ozarks. I have not stayed at the state park at Lake of the Ozarks in many years

There are two great Corp/Engr Parks on Hwy 86 about 6 miles south of Branson. Rock Creek & Old 86 RV Park. About & $9.00 a nite with the Senior Pass. Eddie Elk.

The State Park at Lake of The Ozarks is one of our favorites. There is also Osage Beach RV Park if you need more than electrical hook ups. Ha Ha Tonka is a must see if you are in the area.

Thanks everyone. Elkbelch, we were looking at the Osage RV Park and thought we would do day trips into the park. In your opinion, is there any advantage to staying in the park?

I stayed here last year:
Campground Lake of the Ozarks : Riviera Villas & RV Resort
Young owners dedicating alot of money to building this property into a nice rv park. Nice pool, view of the lake, quiet.

I stayed at Osage Beach a few years ago in the fall. It was end of season, so it was really quiet. Good location. Only negative we experienced was coming across a underground hornet nest while walking the dogs. The dog wasn't very happy afterward.

We like to stay in the park because we love state and national parks. It depends what you are after, if you are into area shopping and restaurants and such then you would want to stay at the Osage Beach RV Park it is in a good location for that. We don't require hook ups and prefer to hike the trails, swim at the beach and ride bikes through the campground. We also enjoy the evening programs at the amphitheater.
Other things to do include; eat a picnic lunch at the park airport and watch the planes come and go ( Friday evening and Sunday afternoon), Horseback riding and lots of deer and turkey watching.
