I'm looking for campgrounds on Lake Ontario in the US. I need full hook up. Taking a 7 and 9 year old kids.

You're not going at this time of year are you. One of the campgrounds we've used in Mexico just north of Syracuse is getting around 18 inches today.

We've stayed at Association Island CG. It's a KOA campground and right on the lake.

Lake Ontario is pretty big, can you narrow it down to a better location around the lake?

Another vote for Association Island. Only down side is that it gets windy there.

Lake Ontario

Probably want two different campgrounds. Since we are coming long distance from MI. We would think Niagara Falls area and the east side. We never been to area so looking for anything.

For Niagara Falls you probably want the Grand Island, NY KOA. There is also a state park but they generally do not have full hookups. We've been along the rest of the lake but don't worry about FHU so don't mind the state parks with electric.

X2 on grand island Koa and association island however swan bay in 1000 islands is all about location and pricing reflects it! It's a very very nice place though in a perfect location right off of 81 on rt 12. Right on the shipping channel too

I would second on Swan Bay and the whole Thousand Island Region. It is a beautiful area with lots to see and do, and you can't beat Swan Bay for location and facilities.

We always stay at Association Island KOA. Reasonable rates, things to do for the kids. Henderson Harbor on the south side of the island, Lake Ontario on the north side. The lake front sites are really nice, sunsets are spectacular.

In the Niagara Falls area, we stayed at Four Mike Creek State Park. It abuts Lake Ontario. Very close to the falls, and Fort Niagara (the youngsters would like that...heck...I liked it)!

As mentioned, it is not full hookup. There are many water spigots dispersed through CG, and a few dump sites. If I remember correctly, it was 30amp at the sites.

The sunsets are terrific, plenty of space to ride bikes, toss a ball, etc.

For Buffalo/Niagara area, The Branches on Grand Island is a fancier / pricier option; and Evangola State Park is a less expensive option with a large beach.
