Lancaster PA resort

We are looking to visit Amish country next August. What resort do you recommend?

Not familiar with the area...

The F450 is large so will we need to rent a car?

Thanks everyone.

We are making an east coast trip in 2016. We are staying at Dear Run Camping Resort in Gardners, PA. It a Good Sam park and reasonable for the area. Hershey, Lancaster, Amish village, etc. are all close.

We were down to Hershey a couple of months ago for family reasons. You will probably be a lot happier with a car. More expressways than I remember from 25 years ago, fewer attractions. Still old part of the country so narrow streets and tight parking a lot of places. It can also get fairly busy as you are withing a days drive of a *lot* of people. ;-)

Country Acres Campground is great and is close to Amish country and other interesting Lancaster County attractions. http://www.bird-in-hand.com/places-t...es-campground/
Enterprise in New Holland will pick you up, and may even drop off a car at the campground for you. They let us leave ours there when we left.

on that.

My cousin and husband workcamp at a place just southeast of Shady Maple called Birchview Farms campground just NW. of Coatesville. Nice place, mostly seasonal. But the weekend sites are very nice. More of of a peace and quite place. Another good breakfast place is in Downingtown called Coffee Cup. Cuz's husband took me to some Amish hardware stores in the area. Still a lot of Amish food shops in that area.

Here are a few pics of Birchview Farm Campground

We lived in Lancaster County for 25 years. PLEASE see our blog post about it? Many nifty places here!
Many roads to wander on.

We were in Lanchaster this last August, there are quite a few places to stay, Look at Woodall,s .com and pick the 25 mile radius, then you can find out which park suits you best. My crewcab dually silverado is as big as your 450, I didn't have any trouble, other than sometimes having to park a little further out.

We stayed at Oak Creek Camping Resort, in Narvon in August of 2014. Really nice, clean CG. They even have water slides in the pool area. Lots of activities. A little off the beaten path, but you travel thru some nice Amish country. We rented a car from Enterprise in New Holland.

Loved that resort!
We lived 5 miles from it. May be pricey, but it's the premier campground in Lancaster County.
