Larry & Penny Thompson RV park (miami-dade) reviews ?
Hey there,
We're looking for a RV park around Miami/Ft. Lauderdale.
Came across Larry & Penny.. Anyone been there ? Space for a 42' footer ?
Is it worth spending money there?
We're towing a 21' flat car hauler. Is there enough space to manoeuver and is there storage available for the trailer once the car is unloaded ?
Any good or bad comment is welcome.
Thanks !!

We stayed there back in 2008. It's a nice campground. The roads and pads are paved, and the sites are full-hookup with 50-amp electric. As I remember, it was fairly quiet.
We have a 37' MH, and I think you would be OK with 42', especially if you let the back of the rig hang over the rear of the site a bit. Sites are arranged in circles, and the sites around the outside are roomier. The photo below shows our site.
I don't know if they have a lot to store your trailer. I know it won't fit on the site unless they let you park on the grass (doubtful).

Larry and Penny Thompson Park is a Miami hidden RV park treasure. I like the pod area just behind the office. Lots of shade among the mango and papaya trees. Shouldn't be a problem with parking the empty trailer. IIRC, there's paved parking scattered around that should accommodate it...I'd just ask where to park it. No maneuvering problems with interior roads.
The park is very reasonably priced, so yeah, it's worth the stay. However, with a weeks stay there, I can usually gain at least ten pounds...Cuban food is awesome in Miami!

I agree with the above posts... nice place and you shouldn't have an issue with your coach size. Another option not to far from there is Miami-Everglades RV. We usually stop there on our way to the Keys.

L & P CG is our home base...we are there right now. You will have no problem with your rig and trailer. In fact, the guy across from me on pod 6 just left with a very long trailer that had been left hooked up to the coach. Depends on whether or not there is a tree behind your asphalt pad. This is the roomiest, quietest and most peaceful full hookup park we have ever stayed at, anywhere. The price is reasonable and the location is between the farmland and the city...everything is accessible from here. Even has a swimming pool and nighttime security.

Thank you all.
Will probably book a few weeks there if they still have availability.

We enjoy Larry & Penny Thompson park but it books up quick from the snowbirds in the winter. I called last winter looking to stay a few days and asked about a 42 footer and they said none avail....if I had a 40 footer they said okay....go figure. Like the previous posts said most of the sites are long with plenty of overhang room. I ain't saying fib about your length, but I am saying during peak winter months size does matter!
It is a beautiful and peaceful park with great walking areas. Just 20 mins to Coconut Grove.

Another +1 for Larry/Penny... we stayed there the month of December a few years ago with our 43ft coach, great rates, large spaces, nice folks & secure facility. We would have stayed longer but the place books early with returning snow birds... good luck getting a winter spot!!
