I already did a search on this, but the postings are kind of old, sooooo...
Has anyone any recommendations for a nice campground near Las Vegas (outside town if possible to avoid the crowds. We aren't too interested in the casinos (except for a show or two) and want to visit Hoover Dam as well.
Thanks in advance.

We stayed at the Oasis this past summer. It was clean, and had a great pool area. They gave poker lessons some nights and had some live entertainment as well. The trolly comes right in the campground and makes it real convenient if you dont want to drive.

There are several campgrounds just outside Vegas in Henderson on the Boulder Highway. One is The Road Runner. It is near Sam's Town Casino, was $15/night and included cable TV, but that was 3 years ago. We stayed at one about 1/2-3/4 of a mile away, was more expensive, had wi-fi included, but was very quiet, just off the Boulder highway. If memory serves me there were others in that area as well.

Gary,
Novi is right, there are several CG's along Boulder Hwy toward Henderson. We stayed at one that was quite nice (sorry, cant remember which one) and I looked at several others in the area and they all seemed to be good. We are staying at the ODR in Las Vegas this month for the Alpine So Cal rally and from we understand ODR is quite good too (maybe a little more pricey)

Thanks for the info, people!
I'm also looking at one called Hitchin' Post RV Park and Saloon (I like the Saloon part), which is a Good Sam park just north of town. Anyone tried it?

Outdoor resorts is one of the best, however they have a restriction that requires your Class A coach to be at least 30' long.

We are going to Las Vegas in March and are planning to stay at the Hitchin' Post. We've never been there before, but most of the reviews I've seen are favorable, and their rates are better than Oasis & Circus Circus. If you get any more info on Hitchin' Post, please share, as I've not had any luck getting any direct feedback on them!?!?!

Mind you I've never stayed at the Hitchin Post (I did buy a Prodigy from their store). I used to do a lot of work in North Las Vegas and Hithin POst wasn't too far away. It isn't the best part of town IMHO.
We went to Vegas with the trailer this summer (August) for a few days for a wedding, and we stayed at Sam's Town. It was fairly low cost (I think around $22 per night), and was clean. It is right next to the hotel, so we could use it to get out of the 110? heat. There is a nice pool (separate from the Hotel's pool), and we used the free shuttle from the Sam's Town casino to the strip and downtown. The kids enjoyed the light/waterfall show at the hotel.
It's a pain trying to park a large diesel dually anywhere on the strip (ask me, I know). We did take the truck to the Flamingo for the wedding (I let the valet park it). They ended up leaving it on the valet lane with the big $$$ Benzes and BMW's.
Anyway, my 2 cents worth...

We stayed at Circus Circus last summer. It was only for one night, but basically, it was a parking lot with hookups. It was a let-down after we had come from Bryce, Zion, and the Grand Canyon! I would not want to stay at Circus Circus for any length of time.
