Las Vegas or Lake Havasu City

I will be leaving in the next few days and heading to outside Las Vegas or the Lake Havasu City, AZ area. My goals will be day trips to pretty areas to photograph and hike with my dog. I will stay 1-2 months, but will likely visit both areas during that time.

It will be my first time there and I have no reservations. How difficult will it be to find a camp sight. I have a 34’ 5th wheel. Although I prefer full hook-ups, I am fairly well set up for boondocking if I need.

Any recommendations on camp sites or day hikes would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Don't rule out Bullhead City AZ across the river from Laughlin NV. Many campgrounds, and not as crowded.

Not sure about campgrounds in Vegas but Red Rock Canyon area is nice for hiking. There is a campground close to there but I don't remember the name off Charleston rd
I doubt you'll find a campground site available in Lake Havasu. It's usually booked before the holidays
Plenty of dispersed camping if you want to try that.
There's a big area north of town and south of town is Standard wash.
There's a new area campers have found just off London Bridge road.
We have the balloon festival this weekend and there's plenty of hiking and 2 dog parks. 1 by Sara park and 1 by the channel.
Take a boat ride across the lake to the casino. It's $2 round trip and you can get some nice pictures across the lake and see the channel with the london Bridge
Always something to do in Havasu.

Vegas and Kingman will be 10 degrees cooler than Havasu. In the 50's for the coming week with Havasu in the 60's. Of course, weather changes. Havasu is more scenic that the other two once you leave the city.

Stayed at Las Vegas motor coach resort couple years ago with no reservations . Called about an hour before I hit town , one of
the nicest resorts I have ever seen.

Cattail Cove State Park south of Lake Havasu City is one we like (has hiking trails), also Pirates Cove Resort just off I-40 on the California side of the Colorado River. The latter is a bit spendy, but the "peninsula" sites are right on the river. This place is nutty in the summer but nice in the winter, but peninsula sites are popular with snowbirds so not sure about availability.

Oasis RV Resort in Vegas
is pretty big.
You might be able to get in
there without
reservations.
It's a very nice park too.

Look at Pirates Cove. The sites are right on the Colorado River. This late in the game you might have to move a few times. They have monthly prices.
