About 90 minutes west of the city off rate 17 and off route 84. Newburgh/new paltz area are two camp grounds. Newburgh/New Paltz KOA, and JELLYSTONE CAMPGROUND about 1/2hr from the KOA, but in Gardiner/ New Paltz NY area. The KOA used to have bus trips scheduled to NYC and surrounding area tourist attraction spots. The Jellystone has the Shawangunk Kill running thru it, great for fishing and tubing/swimming. Both are listed online, and both are in camping directories for NY. I would call them to see what they still offer. I live in the area and have stayed at both with motorhomes, tents, pop-ups and campers. Both are family friendly, not too far from stores, highways and attractions. BOTH are in the heart of NY STATE HUDSON VALLEY APPLE and WINE COUNTRY, perfect for end of Summer or early Fall camping, and both are very nice.
