Hi y'all, my wife just got a 13 week contract in St Louis MO. She will be working at St Marys Hospital near the St Louis Airport (STL / Lambert Field). I have searched all the RV parks & campgrounds I could find online. Without actually visiting the area we have narrowed it down to 3 maybe 4 parks. Marquette Mobile Village in St Charles. Red Barn Rendezvous RV Park in Edwardsville, IL, St Louis RV Park downtown St Louis, & Safari RV in East St Louis, IL. Does anyone have any experience at any of these parks or in these towns? We are open to any suggestions & believe word of mouth is the best advise. If you stayed somewhere near here & were happy & would return please let me know. We like the small RV parks & don't need any planned activities or club houses just the basic full hookups. A clean, preferably quite, & safe park where the utilities work.

St Mary's not that close to Lambert Field. It is in Clayton off of Hwy 40-64. Go to Google Earth and check location. St Louis RV Park is a chain-link fenced parking lot were I wouldn't go during the day. Check if you can find something in south or west St Louis county. You don't want to fight the Illinois Mississippi river bridge traffic during rush hour. There is a KOA in Eureka thay would be an easy drive to work. Only park I would suggest is Sundermeir in St Charles, it's expensive but secure.

I'll do some checking and get back to you. I live here and I can't find anything

Try Babler State park. They have electric but no sewer. People like it.

Casino Queen - Home of the Loosest Slots - RV Park Try this. It's in Illinois right across the river and I think you can take the Metro Link to work.

We recently stayed at the Casino Queen RV Park in East St Louis. It was close to the bridge that crosses over to the Arch. It is clean, well lite and patroled by the casino staff. (there is no gate) We felt very secure being in a tuff part of town. The view of the Arch at night right out through the windshield was spectacular. Can't remember the rates. One side has grass one does not. Sites were large enough but be sure to have extra water hose. I doubt the designer was an RV'r.

NOTE: This is train country and they do work all night........!

For the long term stay away fro east St.Louis. Look around the counties on the MO. side. St Charles is a nice place to live that's why I live there.

The St Marys Hospital she will be at is one of 7 St Marys owned hospitals in the ST Louis vicinity. The one she will be at is in Bridgeton, 12303 DePaul Drive Saint Louis, MO , I believe also known as DePaul Health Center. We initially thought it was the hospital in Richmond Hiegths, but we were mistaken. That being said, & the recomendation from Speed Racer we hope the RV park in St Charles works out for us.

We plan on staying at the Casino Queen RV park when we arrive. Nothing like a little gaming before we start working on a place to live for 3 months.

About the trains, I have read that there are some parks that border the tracks & they run 24-7. One plus for my wife is she will be working 7P-7A 3 nights a week. When I come to visit I hope it will be like when I was younger & the trains shaking the house actually helped me sleep. Took awhile to get use to not hearing & feeling them. One can only hope. Thanks for the help, more post are welcomed.

We like Sundermeiers and usually stay there when passing through. The on site restaurant is a nice feature Sundermeier RV Park & Conference Center
The last two years, they have had a number of trailers apparently owned by a utility company and obviously on some sort of long term arrangement. You might contact the park to get long term rates since the daily rate is likely too expensive for your multi-week stay.

I would opt for the Casino Queen -- secure and easy access to the MetroLink. Great buffets!

The Red Barn CG is about 30 miles away from the river bridge on I55. Last time we stayed there they had water problems (private well). We had to live with onboard water; since we travel with a full fresh water tank 3 days was fine. The manager didn't mention there was no water. Of course that was AFTER I had paid for 3 days.
Next time we are visiting ST.Louis we will stay at the casino.

I realize that Red Barn CG is some distance from where we need to be & just at about our boundry for daily travel. I had read about water problems there before on someones reviews. Although they did say they were there during a drought. Was this your experience also, or did they just not have a big enough well to handle the CG a capacity?

As far as staying at the Casino Queen long term, I am afraid that even if they comped our stay it would end up costing us more than staying at any other CG in the area. We do like to gamble & being that close everyday would not be healthy. We do have self control, buuuuttttt!!! Why temp fate.

If you stay anywhere on the east side of the river I would certainly recommend you check out the availability of the Metro Link.......No sense spending a couple hours a day in the bridge traffic, though her hours might bypass some of that. I would check crime stats for the east side, too.........
That said, if her job is in Bridgeton, Sundermeiers would probably be the most convenient, and while the park is pretty much just a concrete parking lot, it is fairly convenient to the perks of St. Charles. In St. Charles there is a casino, the Old Town area, antique stores, restaurants, Bass Pro Shop and lots else to do and explore. There is a city or county park fairly close to the RV park, too.

FYI-Marquette Mobile Village is on the south outer road of I-70; probably convenient, it's a small long term park, not really what one would call an RV park, but the traffic noise from the interstate would have to be pretty bad, and pretty much 24/7.

I need to call Sundermiers & see if the rate that comes up on the website is correct. It is as much & higher than most parks in South FL in the winter. About $1400.00 per month. Thats right no typo, $1400, when all the other parks in the St Louis area is $400-$450.

We are coming from South FL where we found a no thrills park similiar to Marquette Mobile Village that was backed up to I-95. The traffic was there but we were able mto tune it out. Hopefully Sundermiers online rate is wrong or Marquette is livable. Thanks for all your help.

Well we got some bad news today. My wifes job fell through & as of now we will not be going to St Louis. The hospital made a mistake as to when they needed her, She could not meet thier date due to previous commitments, so we backed out of the contract. The search is on for another contract. All in Gods plans, he will put us where he needs us & we will follow.

Thanks to all who posted. We may still get there in the future, but not in 2 weeks as planned.
