I am close to purchasing my first rv and have few questions about storage. I live in the city with a small lot and can't keep it at home. I can pay to park at a storage facility. No clue about the cost. I'm assuming $50-100 a month. I have been pondering the possibility of storing it at an rv park, not in a usable spot with utilities but off to the side. Either in my own city or one a few hours away that I might frequent for a few months. Then change to another city/park to experience different places. Almost treating it like a weekend cabin on wheels.
Does anybody do this? Is it feasible or does insurance cause problems?
What's am I missing with this thought process?
I have a local marina and rv park close by that I would likely use as my first time rv camping to figure out the whole rv park idea. It isn't too expensive for a boat, an empty spot for an rv should be even cheaper right?! Even if I promise a weekend and month of their premium rate to hook up and camp?

I'm not familiar with storing an RV at a campground. The cost at storage facilities can vary significantly even within a small area, I would say between $10 and $40 a month, sometimes it pays to drive a short distance but you want it to be close enough to check up on the trailer regularly. If the storage facility doesn't have monitoring, fence and locked gates or similar you could face big problems with your insurance if things go wrong.
Hey, sometimes RV dealerships rent out storage cheap to make their inventory appear larger and as a bonus sell supplies and accessories to the renter.

Some RV parks have a storage facility. Suggest to make some telephone calls to your target area candidates.

I would agree on making some calls. There are several local campgrounds that offer storage. We ended up renting a space at an RV storage yard/ store repair center. It is fenced and you need a code to enter. We pay $920 per year.

You'll want a secure area for sure and one not to far away as mentioned above. Around here they run $30-$50 mo.. Inside storage can get quite expensive. $100+ a month.

Storage in a big city can get pricey, and it depends on what kind of storage you're looking for. Uncovered vs covered vs enclosed? Electrical outlet? Do they have a dump station? Somewhere to wash your RV? Your best bet is to get on the Internet and call places around you with RV storage to get actual quotes. I can tell you that in the Houston area, where I am, fully enclosed storage can run $350+ per month. Covered storage seems to start at $150 per month if you're way out in the suburbs and gets progressively more expensive the closer you are to the center of town. The RV storage spots in my area are near 100% rented out so the prices keep going up. Supply and demand.

I store mine in Bonita Beach at a covered facility with electric it's $305.00 per month & there is a waiting list to get in.
Just be sure you put it in a secure place, back up north I have stored it in Public Storage & another place similar & twice it was broken into. The shame of it is they broke out the side window ripped the tv from the cabinet & caused thousands in damage for a $250 TV

We store ours in the spring and fall at a construction trailer retailers storage lot for $40 a month. We get out maybe 3 times each in the spring and fall. In the summer since we camp 6 weeks we park it in front of my garage. In the winter I park it in my parents RV spot in their yard because they winter in Texas with their RV..

I am surprised to see storage fees that high. My rv will be a bit older and not worth a ton of kidney. Covered won't be necessary but secured would be nice. I will call some local parks and see if they are setup for this. I have a camping world and few other rv sales facilities within a few miles. It may be better to store them there.
The marina/rv park would be neat to store it since I might go there more in the first few months just to get the hang of it.
Anybody in the nashville area that can chime in where you store yours?

Like the man in Houston stated, a lot depends on where you are. I've stored my RV in a smaller town at an RV dealer for $40 a month. But I now store it at an RV specific storage facility in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and it's $172 a month with taxes. This is with covered stalls, electricity, truck wash and dump/air/water facilities.

We pay $300 per month for 30 amp totally enclosed storage garage for our RV in Louisiana.
