Will be traveling through the Mt Vernon area and looking for a place to spend the night.

Well, this time of year alot of the campgrounds are closed or are getting ready to close.
I haven't personally stayed at any of the ones in the close proxmity to Mt. Vernon. Rustic campground is listed on rvparkreviews as an "ok" place to stay.
Maybe others will have some more ideas for you.
Mike

The one & only campground in Mt.Vernon (Rustic Knolls) is closed by now. There's a KOA in Butler that's about half hour away & there are also several campgrounds in Loudonville (also a half hour away). In my opinion, the ones in Loudonville would be easier to get to (straight north on Rt 3) & my preference would be Mohican State Park.

Here are the links to ones that I know are still open if you want to check them out:
Butler KOA
Mohican State Park
Mohican Adventures

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

Stayed there again two weeks ago. Still no complaints. If you park in the back, you have a nice open stretch to over look.
