we stayed at South Padre Island in Jan.of 2014. Not much to see or do in the area, and the weather was not as warm as we had hoped.

I live in Corpus. I would suggest you look at Rockport, which is only 30 minutes northwest of Corpus. That's where we go. Also look at Seawind RV resort near Kingsville, Tx. Very nice.

Island RV resort is HUGE and not on the water. It's between Corpus and Rockport in Aransas Pass but you would be on Padre Island and would need to go through Corpus or take the fairy to get back to the mainland.

Nice area. Should be cool around that time

I will be following this too. We have family in Corpus, and our Christmas '16 plan is to stop by there for a few days.

FWIW...the beaches are GREAT in the winter. No crowds. Beach is wide when the cold fronts blow the tide out.

We are staying at Gulf Waters RV park about halfway between Port Aransas (where Island RV Resort is located) and Corpus Christi. It is by far the fanciest place we have booked yet. Concrete slabs to park on. Manicured lawns all around.

Gulf Waters Beachfront RV Resort Luxury RV Resort on the Gulf of Mexico

Winters there can be cool, but rarely freezing. I usually roam around in shorts and a sweater.

Port Aransas

We are in Port Aransas now and will be until April 2016. Several nice camping areas close to Corpus. We are at Pioneer Rv Park, just down the road is Gulf Waters, On The Beach RV Park, Mustang Island State Park, and a County owned park IB Magee. We love it here...short drive to Corpus. Great fishing, clean beaches, birding, and more. No problems with the ferry, 18 wheelers on them every time we go to Aransas Pass.
