Looking for campgrounds and resorts near ATV trails

We camp with our ATVs and are looking for places to ride trails adjacent to or near trails.

We live in Illinois, a state that doesn't have public offroad trails. And since we are retired we don't mind traveling. Any areas within one or two days travel would be preferred.

We like Ambrose Lake in northern Lower Michigan. Really nice, updated, RV friendly State Forest campground right at the trailhead. Just east of the Houghton Lake area. Search "michigan orv trails", and you'll get the Michigan.gov page showing all the areas available as the trail restrictions. Also. Most of the counties allow the ATV's do drive on the side of the roads.

Spider lake trails have free camping, so do the Pine Center trails.

Lake Rathbun, Centerville, Iowa

Lake Rathbun, Centerville, Iowa has one of the best in the State of Iowa, Camping nearby. I think you have to pay $16.00 to get a state registration, but it allows you to ride any OHV park in the state. August 2, 2014 we have a local event called "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles", and you can ride for $5.00, you can also ride a rail car, (work car) on the Appanoose County railroad, take an airplane ride over the area, tandem parachute jump, see the car show with over 100 unique automobiles, take a two our boat ride on Lake Rathbun, see a lighted boat parade at night with fireworks to follow, and shopping for the ladies that can take several days. Let me know if you need any more info.... Mike

St Joe state park in Park Hills, MO (about an hour south of St Louis) has 2,000 acres of ATV trails with adjacent campgrounds.

Thumbs up Pure Michigan

Drive right from your campsite onto one of the largest ATV trail systems in the state.

How about Hot Springs, Arkansas? I'd recommend this place to stay: Catherine's Landing in Arkansas | RVC Outdoor Destinations
If you look in Hot Springs they have a 4x4/ATV park: Superlift ORV Park in Hotsprings, Arkansas
Plus when you're tired of 4 wheeling there's always Hot Springs.
