Looking for help with first time trip in the Tampa Florida area.

Maybe up to 100 miles in any direction and scenic maybe a spring.. Also easy parking maybe pull through. I'm a first timer with a 32 foot tt and it seems even bigger.. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi shawn0125:
Consider I4, exit 14 (I think). The CG is Tampa East at Tampa East . It is south of the exit about 1/4 mile. Just north of the exit is a CW store. From this exit one can go in any direction to see the sights of central Florida. The CG has a brochure rack that will get you started.

However, unless you have a specific reason for staying in the Tampa area, consider staying in the Kissimmee area. Many more CGs to choose from and closer to the central Florida attractions. In addition one can get to either coast in about 1 hour. From this location there is more to do than you can "shake a stick at". Look at Tropical Palms CG at Campgrounds & RV Parks in Orlando, Kissimmee & Disney, FL | Tropical Palms Resort

Google Citrus Hills RV park. Just east of Tampa on Route 60... Passport America Park. Pretty laid back.

You may want to wait until all the flood water is gone.

Well since you mentioned a 100 miles and springs look at Silver Springs State park up in Ocala, great park and lots of natural history. Actually go to Florida State parks website and you will get all kinds of idea's as many of our state parks are at springs or rivers.

As for as commercial campgrounds, can't help you there but there are dozens in the area.

Silver Springs is nice and sites are sufficiently large . Another thought is E.G. Simmons County park in Ruskin. It's on Tampa Bay, most sites are canal front. A bit further south ( 60 miles) is Venice Campground, on the Myakka River. Closer to Tampa, is Hillsborough River State Park . Sites 19,20,21,22,23,36,37c,51a,60,71,72 are large with easy access. Lithia Springs County park is also close by , Suggest sites 1,3,4,27,32,40 as the best, with 2,5,6,7,9,10,13,14,15,36 as other roomy sites.
