You could try a county park named Manatee Hammock but I'd bet you're too late and they're full. Your best beet at this late date may be The Great Outdoors West of Titusville and drive your toad to the Intercoastal Waterway (as far East as you can go for the launch) and find a parking place. Take chairs.

We stayed at jetty park CP. it is supposed to be one of the closest places to watch the launch. The only downfall to the CP is the sandy sites. Other than that it was very enjoyable stay. Very nice pools. You can go out to the coastline and watch the launch from there. They did however require a 2 night minimum stay. But the view for the launch was worth every bit.

Try The Great Outdoors in Titusville. They have sites that the owners allow rentals on. For shuttle watching, drive East on FL 50 from TGO to the water (about 5 miles) and the shuttle launch area is right across the water.

Launch Site Campgrounds

All campgrounds which allow you to see the launch directly from the campground have been booked up solid for at least 2 months. I know because I called them all. When you mention July 8th, they almost laugh.

The only problem with Jetty Park for a launch is that you can't see the shuttle actually leave the pad due to trees, etc. You can see it after it's lifted off.

You could go and boondock on the east side of the new bridge - you would need to get there early as those spots fill up quickly. You might be able to park at Miracle City Mall - they charged last time there was a launch. You could walk across US 1 and see the launch with a great view. Again, get there early. Expect to stay for hours as the traffic is horrendous after the launch. I live in Titusville and have seen many launches - just don't be in a rush to leave!

Manatee Hammock (Titusville)
The Great Outdoors (Titusville)
KOA (Mims)
Seasons in the Sun (Mims)
Jetty Park (Port Canaveral)

LOTS of places to boondock in and around Titusville.

Come on down.
