Maine camping

Thinking of heading to Maine for a couple weeks and looking for camping suggestions for places we can enjoy without a toad

Hidn pines campground in old orchard beach is a short walk to town/beach/nightlife. There is a trolley that runs from most campgrounds in the area to the beach/town as well.

What sort of adventure are you looking for? I know Maine pretty well. Campgrounds in the middle of a golf course? Remote places where you are near the end of civilization? Maine is pretty diverse. Just expect allot of driving but that's not so bad.

There is a free shuttle that goes to most of the CG's in and around Acadia National Park. It takes you into Bar Harbor, some of the other towns in the area and all through the national park. Here's a link for more info Island Explorer Home

X2 Acadia is a great place to go toadless with the shuttles, ferries, mail boats and bike trails. Baileys in Scarborough has adult pool and activities plus shuttle to beaches

Wells Beach is in southern Maine, gourgous beach with several nearby campgrounds. We have been going to Wells Beach Campground, about a mile from the beach. There is a shuttle as well.

There are many RV parks in and around Bar Harbor. Easy shuttles too. I stayed at Narrows Too which is in Trenton ME. A stones throw to Bar Harbor.

I also love Boothbay. I've stayed at Shore Hills CG twice and it was very nice. I actually preferred Boothbay to Bar Harbor.

Good luck with your plans.

Happy Trails!!

Your letting the secret out on Boothbay.. we were going to head up there in a few weeks. Do you have a suggestion for a campground there (we've usually stay at BBs).

Following to find some nice campgrounds in the north. We plan to explore ME since we will be based out of the middle of NH.

Try libby's oceanside campground at york beach, has shuttle to town, or bike ride to nubble lighthouse. The sites are tight, but right on the seawall, nice views.

Next to Acadia NP is Narrows Two camp ground. There are about twelve to fourteen sits that sit directly on the bay across from Cadaliac Mt. The rest of the sites are just so-so. Just a place to park the rig.
All the water front sites a back in except one (get that one of you can). All the Motorhomes that were in the back in sites simple pulled in so they could enjoy the view and ran there utilities under the coach.
