Maine Lobster

My wife and I are thinking of a trip to Maine to get some lobster next month. We have a 40' Damon Escaper that we haven't used in 2 years so it should be interesting.. We're looking for some upscale sites to stay for a few days and don't want to park in dirt. Anyone have any recommendations in good lobster country? Oh and we have a dog..
Thanks,
Jim

Try the Red Apple campground just outside Kennebunkport. Nice campground and they'll bring cooked lobster right to your campsite. Check out their web site.

Red seats. Listed in 100 places you must go US edition. Not fancy at all, but best lobster roll I've ever had.

Reds is great but Crab Shack in Kennebunkport has won best Lobster Roll in US in NYC competition 2 yrs in a row. Just got back from a 3 wk Maine trip and I have to say that their Lobster Roll is out of this world. 😄😄

We've been wandering around in Maine since May, will be heading south the end of Sept. What I've found is that ALL Lobstah rolls are good,...some are just a little better than others. We haven't come across any campgrounds that I would consider upscale. The four parks we've stayed at have had gravel parking w/a concrete patio. We're currently just outside Bucksport which makes for easy daytripping. You better hurry getting up here, as I posted before I'm doing my best to create a lobster shortage.

KOA Oceanside. Bar Harbor. There was a guy on site that would cook lobster & bring to your RV.

Do a lobster boat tour in Bar Harbor dock. Neat.

We just spent a month at Narrows Too outside of Bar Harbor in Trenton... 3 Lobster pounds within a short walk. But, the sites and interior roads are gravel. Many 40-45ft MH's A bit further south is Shore Hills in Booth Bay... and just down the road is Red's Eats for the best lobstah rolls.

Just got back from Maine last week. Stayed at Hadleys Campground by Bar Harbor. Might not be the upscale site your looking for but it was nice and it worked. They had sites that will accomadate your rig. There is a place right across the road that prepared and delivered lobster and mussles right to our campsite. It was good! Believe it was called "The Travelin Lobster".

This is a nice place: Libby's Oceanside Camp - York Harbor, Southern Maine Coast on York Beach, ME.

A bit of a drive (90 miles) with wonderful scenery along the way to Red's Eats in Wiscasset.

Take care,
Stu

All,
I wasn't expecting so many recommendations and comments. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you all so much.. I'm not going to be towing a car. Has anyone ever rented a car once you get out there or do you just drive your rig around?
I sure hope there's some lobster left when we get out there.
