Maine/Nova Scotia/Newfoundland in July
Any tips for this trip? I am originally from NH/Maine. Class A 40' long towing a full size truck. I don not plan on taking the class A all the way to Newfoundland, will either park it in Nova Scotia or Maine and take the truck on the ferry and tent camp and possibly stay at an Inn for a night. Am considering driving the RV towing the truck to Nova Scotia via New Brunswick, Canada.
Big rig friendly into Nova Scotia?
Any tips/Campgrounds?

Try The Moorings in Belfast Maine also Fundy National Park in New Brunswick. Both are reviewed in the campground section of this web site

Fundy NP is great, but plan on a few days stay. Visit Hopewell Rocks, north of Fundy NP, there is a commercial RV park just south of the Rocks. Entrance fee to the Rocks is good for 24 hrs, so you can spend time at both low tide and high tide.
We tried to stay at the Prov. Park (can't remember name)near the ferry to PEI and it was full up with rigs while people spend a day or 2 on PEI. I'm not sure if the same situation exists with the ferry to Newfoundland. We stayed at the KOA at Seal Island and used the tow vehicle for the Cabot Trail drive, clockwise is best, Atlantic side seemed too congested.
Prov. Parks we really liked in NS, Blomidan PP, Lighthouse PP, Mira River PP, TH Randal (sp) PP. Five Islands PP had some huge big rig sites, but isolated from the great views and terrible roads getting to the PP.
Make sure you visit the Fortress of Louisburg, Mira River is the nearest PP, but there are commercial parks nearby as well.

Nova Scotia highways are great for big rigs. Smooth, lots of lanes and little traffic.
We always stay on the south shore . Hubbard's Beach is great if you like lobster suppers and dances. Small campground but 40's are always there with no issue. Mins away from beaches and all the tourist towns along the south coast.
Wood haven is closer to Halifax. Nothing special other than a close drive to the city.

What is the approximate cost of the ferry to PEI for 43ft motorhome and toad? Are there RV parks on PEI?
Looking to go there in August and September.

It's been a while sine I took the ferry. Best to call Nothumberland Ferries . Sails from Caribou to Wood Islands. I recall it not being much.
PEI is amazing for camping. Book ahead . Stay in Cavendish Beach. You will regret it if you pick another spot. I recommend the KOA Cavendish. Great spot and close to the beach, boardwalk, and all the tourist stuff. You won't regret it!
Take the bridge to New Brunswick on the way back. Awesome ride to be in the middle of the ocean on one if not the longest bridge on the world.

You can travel to PEI free. It's getting ff the island that costs. So, save a few bucks and take the moho on the ferry TO Prince Edward....it's free. Then take the Confederation Bridge OFF the island. The toll is about $40.

This is a bit expensive, but you will not IMO find a nicer campground on your trip...location, conditions...on site owners...etc., etc. Check out the website.

Driving to Prince Edward Island
In either case, keep in mind that the bridge and ferry tolls are paid only on departure or, as we like to say, only if you decide to leave! Have fun and happy touring!
However you may want to check out the ferry rates as there are costs listed for both on and off.
The costs on the ferry are 8.50 per foot and on the bridge by axle. Looks to be cheaper on the bridge.

I was there in 09 alberta nl return 40ft and toad good roads a bit narrow and rough some parts newfondland
