Mammoth or Yosemite National Park

Have our trip planned for April 1 start
Los Angeles, ski Mammoth, Heavenly, week in Napa Valley, week in San Francisco then back down the coast to LA
My query is if there's no snow to ski on wouldn't I be better going up the west side of the range and spending the time in the National Park.
I've checked the gov website and most of the park is prebooked.
If anybody has a crystal ball some weather predictions would be nice. Since California seems to be in a terrible drought is winter finishing early?

Check out Yosemite Pines.

It's on the west side of the park and not too far to the valley.

Great plan
I'm thinking I'll wait till closer to the date to make a decision.
Don't mind burning deposits at Mammoth ( if they took one) and South Lake Tahoe.
We ski in Australia fir 3 weeks a year. Just came back from 2 weeks skiing in Japan Alps so I don't need to spend time in queues if half the hill is closed to have a ski fix
If the skiing is going to be ordinary I'd much rather spend it in a national park
Thank you for the above camp ground - you are right I don't need to be limited to the NPS campgrounds which are all full

Our trip turned out perfectly
20" of snow in Mammoth the day before we arrived and it was still snowing as we drove up the hill.
They graded the site so we could use it and decided we could have full hookup. 1 week, then skied Heavenly for a day only.
Went from South Lake Tahoe to Yosemite Pines as suggested then Napa, SF, and slowly down 101 driving hwy 1 in the toad.
Last stop was Malibu Rv.
