Hi All,

I looked in the CG Review and did not see anything posted. So I figured I would ask here, does anyone know anything about this place Markham Park in Sunrise, FL Pro or Con?? I know it's a city park, and I hear they have no trees left after the hurricans, but figured it would not be a problem in Feb. or am I wrong?

Al;
I do not believe that Markham Park has overnight camping facilities. In Broward County, Fl, try CB Smith County Park. It is a nice park, although I have had picnics there but never camped. Also, the Seminole Tribe has camping facilities at their casino in Hollywood. Hope this helps.

Hi All,

Hey Bob I went through there 2 years ago when I was staying with friends at a time share down the road. Back then they had full hook up sites. I will call them to check, there web site still talks about the campground. Thanks for the reply, do you think no trees will be a problem in Feb? I figured it would not, since I am from NJ and going down there for as much sun as I can get, !!!

Al;
That's good news that there are hook-ups at the park. In February, you should not have to worry about not having any trees while camping in Florida.

I see that your location is northern NJ. I grew up in North Arlington, Bergen County.

Hi All,

Thanks Neil C, I figured since I would only be out $20.00 If I cancel I made reservations, If I find something I like better or for a longer time I just might cancel my site at Markham Park. As of now I will be on site # A-17 from Feb 17 - March 2, 2008.

There was an article in the Sun Sentinel this week about the camping facilities at all the Broward County Parks. It announced that Markham and CB Smith park Camping facilities are all back on line and have full hook ups. The exact numbers left my mind but I think it is about 80 in each park. Local residents are now charged $25 a night and out of towners are charged $35 a night. There are no trees in the RV section at Markham but there is still allot to do and see there. I camped there a few years ago and the racoons were thick as thieves. The park is right up against the Everglades so don't swim in any of the ponds or canals because it is against the law to feed the alligators. Good luck
