Maryland to Disney World Trip - Place to stay

We're taking the kids to Disney in May. Because my son has severe autism, we've decided that a 2 day trip would be best. Any thoughts on a decent place to overnight roughly half way between Waldorf, MD and Orlando, FL? Thanks.

Do you dry-dock? How far do you drive in a day? Your trip is about 840 miles. Many of us do around 300 to 350 a day. I-95 has rest areas along the way (if they are open). Walmart is another option if RV friendly. If you are looking for campgrounds you could always get a directory and check the places out online.

Here is a link to Sam's Club: RV Parking

I found one on your route at 5085 Dawn Dr, Lumberton, NC. That is around 336 miles into your trip according the my Streets & trips. Then I found a
walmart at 10251 Shops Ln, Jacksonville, FL. It seems to be on the south outskirts of town and is not listed in the walmart no-parking list. That is about 714 miles into the trip.

I will do this again for you if you need campgrounds instead.

Hope you have a wonder-filled trip.

Rick Y

I really appreciate your help. We do need a campground and any input would be appreciated. Thanks again.

We live in Fredericksburg Va and usually stopover in Waltersboro SC on our way to FL. That's about 8-9 hr with stops. We've stayed at New Green Acres CG (so-so). Will likely stay at Walmart the next trip.

We travel from farther west than you and don't typically stop in campgrounds on that trip, instead use WalMart or truck stop somewhere between Lumberton, NC and mid SC. For a campground how about South of the Border as you enter South Carolina, I have never stopped there but a lot of people use to use that as a mid way stop.

About 400mi. from Waldorf just south of Florence, SC is Swamp Fox campground. It's just off I-95. There's another on the north side of Florence but I can't remember the name of it. Florence is just about half way. We're from Waldorf originally but now call S.C. home. We very seldom do 400mi. in a day.

We live near annapolis md abd when we travel to disney and other places in florida, we stop at the koa in yemassee South Carolina. Easy access off of 95. Its more than half way and makes for an easy trip on day 2.

I don't have a place to stay but......we have an autistic son (now 24 yrs old) and he still talks about Disney (we went when he was 12) to this day.....he loved the train, monorail, and the roller coasters......loves movement.... Good luck and I wish you all the best.....kids are kids and Disney truly is magical

If your son is sensitive to loud noise I suggest some disposable ear plugs or even ear muffs. My grandson often had his fingers in his ears. He has grown out of the and loves Disney.

You can also stay at South of the Border near Dillon SC, which comes before Florence.
