We did not stay at Silver Lake but stayed across the street and drove through it. It seemed very clean with nice concrete pads and well kept grass in between. Not a lot of entertainment amenities like the Sun site in Sarasota but definitely a place we’d stay when in the Pentwater area.

Thanks Jwm,
The State Park site states that my 38 footer will but reviews state it can be tight due to folks having OHV''s parked up
I did check it out on Google maps, I think its worth trying it for a weekend before Memorial or after Labor weekend.

I tent camped at Mears a few years ago on a bike trip from S. Mich to N. Wi, with the Boy Scout Troop, we took the SS Badger across Lk Michigan, that was a good time. I will agree, the park seemed pretty tight to me. It's a nice park, right off the beach & close to town. It was a clean park but seemed a bit small. We're taking delivery of our first MH in May and intend to make Mears one of our first trips, so I hope it's not too tight for a rookie w/ a new 36'er.

Hi,
I have never traveled on the Badger.
What part of Mid Mich are you based? I can make some recommendations of places that will easily fit your rig

The Badger is an enjoyable experience, but a bit pricey, even more so if you tow something or do it in your MH.
I’m outside Lansing, THX.

Lansing is nice location for getting to Lake Michigan shore.
For our 3 night weekend trips we generally go as far as Mesick, Higgins Lake or Rose city. For longer trips we go further afield.

Thx. Our first weekend trips will be to Turkeyville, by Marshall and a place by Ravenna. These two will be the “get used to it” trips. Then we’ll stretch it out a bit and head to Mears and Mancelona. The big trip will be, taking our son to Michigan Tech in Houghton. That will be a week trip.

I’ve stayed at Silver lake state park. Have 35’ and Jeep. No problem. The reservation web site tells you what fits.
