Membership Camping Question
I'm not sure this has been addressed before.
I'm curious if anyone on this forum belongs to Passport
or any of the other similar.
How do you like them?
Thanks for the info

The only thing I have to say about Membership Camping is your schedule must fit vacancies that they have and hope you get a good spot. Most accessible times for camping is during the off season at the location. Most A rated time is booked way ahead. It is like seats at the college football games. The longer you are a member the better seats you have.

Passport America - don't leave home without it. Unless you only camp one weekend a year. You will save lots of money. Do check campground restrictions and check it out in campgroundreviews.com before going. Most places have restrictions - like "mon thru thru only, cash only, one night only or no reservations." You will probably get your money back in savings on the second or third time you use it. We love it.

Hi donie,
I belong to Passport America, FMCA, Good Sam, KOA, Yogi Bear and some that I have forgotten. I have found all the organizations to be of benefit. Each has its' own personality. Passport America is used mainly for overnight stops. If the CG does not take Passport America I will then try the other choices. Rarely do I find a CG that takes nothing.

Ditto for Passport America. In addition to the usual restrictions - one night only, not on the weekend, etc., we found some CG's with no restrictions so were able to use it for the duration of our stay. As stated, you'll get your money back by the 3rd or 4th CG. We also belong to Good Sam and have found CG's where we used PA for however many nights allowed and then were able to use GS for the remaining nights.

we used PA in the Florida Keys!! $44 membership pays for itself within three uses....best to check the campgrounds on line as many CG are not current. And, check the reviews of the campgrounds you are interested in.

We use Passport America quite a bit, for the little money it is per year pretty much a no brainer. As for the restrictions - I have found often if I ask for something outside the restrictions the CG will be accommodating. They would rather have some money over no money.
