Merril Campground, Eagle Lake, Ca
Wife, me, son and his girlfriend went camping this weekend at Eagle Lake just outside of Susanville, Ca. This was our 3rd trip there and we're going again next weekend. It's on the edge of Eagle Lake with 3 levels of sites. Closest to the water have no hookups, next rows over have partial and farthest from the water have full hook ups. There's a little over 170 sites total, so it's a fairly large campground. All sites have a paved pad and the roads within the campground make a tick over 2 miles for bike riding or walking. There's even more paved bike trails outside the campground. Saturday nights there's an ampitheatre in the woods, that the hosts show a family movie at. Incredibly quiet and peaceful at night with not a lot of heavy noisy partying like in many other campgrounds. The camp hosts are incredible. Nicest and friendlies folks ever encountered in any campground. One of the hosts gives children rides in his golf cart around the campground. The children's smiles as they ride by say it all. At 90 miles from home in something that get 7.5 mpg it's not the most economical place we can go, but it has become our favorite.
