Look around Apache Junction (just east of Mesa), there are some newer parks to stay in that are really nice, gated etc.

We would suggest 2 weeks at Lost Dutchman State Park and 2 weeks at Usery (Maricopa County regional park). Both are awesome with great hiking trails and lush spacious sites.

Add to the list of local state parks, the park at McDowall Mountain, just north of Fountain Hills. It's a county park with beautiful well separated sites (but no on-site dumps, just one at the entrance). You are surrounded by Saguaros and have views of mountains all around. Spent two weeks there this fall and will be back when we are in the Phoenix area

We have been in Mesa Spirit RV Resort since Oct 26th in our 42' and love it here. It's a great location that is close to everything we need. Nice resort with many amenities and many upgrades are underway. We have looked around at other RV parks and resorts in Mesa for comparison and Mesa Spirit is by far the nicest we have seen. The website is Mesa Spirit RV Resort - Welcome to Mesa Spirit, Arizona
