Hi Laara. As far as a camping resource the church and church guide to camping although getting a little long in the tooth is a good reference.
Here is a link to our OLD website that we don't use anymore. There are still a few years of pictures up there. There are three links there, Baja, Mexico 2008 and Mexico 2009. LOTS of pictures. Please feel free to ask us any questions.

Check out a website called bumfuzzle.com. They are a young family from Minnesota currently living way down in Mexico in a 1966 Dodge Travco motorhome.

I am in a large RV resort 6 miles North of the border. A service they offer is an independent tour concierge. I sat down with her last Tuesday to discuss tours while we stay in the RGV. When I ask about bus tours to Mexico," we have discontinued,all tours to Mexico, due to the crime levels".
We have met another couple and plan to walk across the border together, on a pretty day.

This could just as easily be construed to mean "due to the irrational fears of crime reducing the numbers of folks paying for a bus tour across the border, they have been discontinued due to lack of profitability".
Or something like that.

Your English is fine.
You don't need to speak Spanish to visit Mexico but it definitely adds to the experience if you have some basic communication skills in Spanish, especially when you get off the beaten track a bit. You already speak two languages so another language would not be too hard for you. I speak four languages reasonably fluently and try to learn another one every 4 or 5 years but the reality is they tend to get easier to learn as you get older as quite simply you simply get better at learning them. Not sure if you speak french but if you do Spanish is pretty easy after you know french.

Don't forget the two Australian surfers that were just found dead, our the hundreds of missing students, or the victims of Santeria in matamoros, or the sheriffs and mayors that have been recently killed. Or the cruise ship tour that was attacked, our the dude that went missing on lake amistad...
