Can't believe no-one mentioned Kitch-iti-kipi, simply amazing spot near Indian lake state park (great park by the way). Seney Wildlife Refuge is a nice spot to visit if you like nature. Fayette State Park is a historical site which I found to be very interesting and well worth the trip. I'll also echo everyone else's advice about Munising. Munising Tourist Park has sites directly on Lake Superior if you can find an opening. We've only tent camped there once but it was really cool being right on the water and able to kayak over to Grand Island right from the campsite.

If you don't mind me hi-jacking your thread...
We're looking to be in the Mackinaw City area the first full week of August..
We're looking for a nice place to call home for the week.. We're not looking for a "full amenity" type place... we usually are gone touring on the motorcycles during the day.. just looking for a nice place, not too tight, full hook-ups if possible, clean and maintained...
Any suggestions ???

I suggest using the Allstays ap to find what you like best! All info is there, including camp website links and reviews.
On the Upper Peninsula, make sure you eat some pastys. Then you will be a bonafide Yooper!
And don't miss Fort Wilkins and Copper Harbor

Yep. Up north in Michigan, especially around the Mackinaw Straights, tourists are called "Fudgies"

Due to an unscheduled medical issue we have had to change our plans to go FT'ing this year, and instead, take a closer look at our home state attractions. Thanks for all the great information.

Da Yoopers is one of my favorite UP stops. Love some of their music/humor, I used to harass some buddies when we went deer hunting by playing "Second Week of Deer Camp" on the ride up....
Also, if you go near L'Anse, stop at the Hilltop Restaurant, best sweet rolls in the world. I know of people who will drive from Mackinaw up there just to get some. Hilltop Restaurant | Home of the Famous Sweet Roll Cinnamon Roll
If you want to be politically incorrect, have a laugh and stop at the bar in Gay (on the way to Copper Harbor) den youz can tell people dat you've been in da Gay Bar.
