Midland, TX?

We are in San Antonio, TX and want to see the Commemorative Air Force Museum in Midland, TX. Has anyone ever gone and where are the campsites? We have a 40' Newmar Mountain Aire with car in tow.
Thanks,
Donnie & Kathi

wife and I went through Midland last summer, the Oil Boom was there, so very hard to find campsites or motel room.
Good luck

You might try a planned day stop at the museum, and then head west to Monahans Sand dunes State Park.

Friends in Midland report huge issues with the oil boom as already mentioned. Have a place reserved it you are heading that way for the night. All over the middle of TX the oil boom has changed camping, with man camps, or RV parks full of workers.

As a resident of Midland County, don't expect to find an RV spot without a reservation. As noted earlier, we are in the midst of the oil boom to end all oil booms. There is a WalMart right on Interstate 20 about 10-15 miles from the CAF museum. There are usually 3 or 4 people "Wallydocking" there most nights.

The CAF museum is highly recommended, and you won't be sorry you made the trip to see it.

Watch out for the oil field truck traffic as it is very heavy and those guys are always in a hurry, tired and usually overloaded. Traffic fatalities in the county are, tragically, rising sharply.

Safe travels!
