Military Campgrounds?

My wife and I are Army Veterans and was wondering if we could stay at the military campgrounds? What are the regulations as far as eligibility is concerned?

I am retired as well, and there hasn't been a base, that I haven't been able to stay at. The more popular ones, you should try to get a reservation.

Just got back from Camp Pendleton, stayed right on the beach at Camp Delmar, great place

You can always call ahead to find out rates and availability

CJ7365 is spot on. We stay at the Military Campgrounds a great deal. Same thing from us, never had a bad experience.

The BUT here that you MUST be an official ID cardholder. That generally means you are active, retired, disabled veteran, etc. While you can generally make the reservation you must present your ID at checkin.

Enjoy.

Thank you for the responses. I heard that you had to be 100% disabled or retired. We are both disabled.

As long as one of you is 100% disabled with an ID card (not just a card issued by the VA that you use for appt check in etc) then your good. Non retired with less than 100% won't get you on base let alone into campground. If you are 100% you aslo qualify for a free America the Beautiful pass. This Will get you into fee based federal property(national parks, etc) for free with discounted camping in lots of places like ACOE parks etc
