Mississippi

Heading to Texas will be in Ala next week then Miss. Any suggestions for Miss., looks like good parks are limited and someone suggested a Casino but couldn't remember the name. I think we will be near I10.
Thanks

We stayed here in Feb.

http://gulfhavencampground.com/

Not much to recommend it other than good location to explore the MS gulf coast in your toad. It's a gravel parking lot with hookups.

I recommend this casino in LA.

http://www.cypressbayou.com/

It's close to Avery Island, home of Tabasco. We loved visiting & touring the Island.

The Casinos in Mississippi are at the north end at Tunica and down on the south end near I 10. They are near Biloxi and there are some campgrounds in that area. We go to Tunica so I am not familar with them. We are going to Tunica next week and may have time to go south to Biloxi so I am getting ready to do some research. I will watch your thread and also post what I find.

Vicksburg has a campground aligned with a river boat casino. Not a bad spot.

The wife & I make several trips up and down I-10 a year, Destin, Disney, etc., and this is one of our fav overnite spots. ...especially in summer when you need the A/C.

Flea Market & RV Park at Menge, near Pass Christian, Ms.

Easy on/easy off the highway, safe, cheap and clean.
Certainly not a destination spot but great for getting some shuteye with full hook ups and preferred by the DW over Wal-Mart parking lots.

Best kept secret along I-10 IMHO.

I re-read your post. I now see you want something near I-10. I have tried many campgrounds in Biloxi and they all are less than acceptable to us. Just North of Biloxi, about 8 miles is a campground that we use now. Lakeview resort that has a Saucier,MS address.

We found Majestic Oaks in Biloxi to be very nice. Spaces are tight, but we got our 37' A & C-RV in. Plenty of rigs lots bigger than ours were there.

We always stay at Majestic oaks when in Biloxi - it is about 10 minutes to Hard Rock Casino. We have a 43' and have never had a problem getting in and around the resort.

No way would I stay a night in a park when there are at least 4 casinos with enough room to park. I assume you are self contained...

Sounds like you have been there. Which casino do you prefer and which ones let you park overnight.

If you are going to be near I10 check out buccaneer cove. Its near the beach there are a couple of casinos nearby. Its a state park relatively inexpensive, near the beach the site are easy to get into and the summer rush hasn't hit yet.

I would park at the Harrah's (the old Grand) or IP. If you are going to be there a few days you will probably want to get out to look around. If only overnight, don't even unload the toad. take the trolley to other casinos.

Buccaneer state parks is pretty nice if you want a campground also is close to one of the Casinos. We stayed there in august. Has a pool nature trails and a waterpark but it is not part of the campground. Very quiet, full hookups. Was redone after Katrina so most of it still has that new campground smell! Some sites are a little small, we are at 35' feet and if I didn't keep some 2x10 blocks I would have had to move bc my back levelers were off the pad. Site was very level and only put down the jacks for stability. All staff was very friendly. If you can, try to get a double site they are much larger.
