Planning a month in Mississippi, looking for FHU campgrounds on lake near poi.

Take a look at Paul B. Johnson state park. Its just south of Hattiesburg in the center of the state. Short drive to the gulf coast. I like site 103. Its in the back of the park looking at the lake. Its a back in site. All the pull thru sites are at the front of the park and close together.

Natchez MS has interesting history, and is on the lower end of the Natchez Trace.
You could stay on the Mississippi River at the Riverciew RV Park (actually in Vidalia LA- across river) or Natchez State Park RV campground.
Up the river is Vicksburg and the National Cemetary. There's a lot of history along the river.
If it's a lake you want, Ross Barnett Reservior near Jackson MS. Timberlake campground is on the lake.
