DW and I changed our minds! We decided to go to Moab for our maiden voyage of our new Cobalt on March 13. Weather and not so great memories of Santa Fe/Taos for DW helped make the decision.

We plan to have our unit charged completely and I am eager to dry camp to determine how long I can operate on the battery without recharging, and will just go where I can charge the battery if needed.

We are looking forward to sightseeing, four-wheeling and fishing for the entire week.

Where do you suggest we camp that is convenient to all of these activities? Do you expect campgrounds to be occupied much, or should we really boondock?

Thanks for the feedback!

Moab is an awesome place. There is so much to do. Any place you stay in Moab will be a good location because everything is spread around so either way you will be driving to take it all in. We stay at Portal RV park on the north side of Moab and it's a great place. If you are looking for dry camping and have a smaller rig you can try the BLM campsites right along the Colorado River. They're just a few miles north of the Colorado River bridge on Utah Hwy 128. Very scenic location. Moab is usually pretty dead over winter but everything kicks into high gear Easter weekend when the Jeep Jamboree is. You should be fine in March. Maybe you can try the BLM boondocking and then move to Portal if it doesn't work out.
