We have stayed at Spanish Trail on the south end of Moab on 191, Jeff owns the place and understands off roading(owns a Jeep). Very nice CG.I agree, long haul from N.C. but worth the Crawling!

You will be fine at Moab Valley. It is on the north end of town (closer to Arches entrance). It has some amenities. Lots of gravel. It's close to the road and that road has a lot of traffic at all hours. I think it may be OK because Moab Valley sits quite a bit lower than the road. As you head into town, the elevation differences goes away and those RV campgrounds are noisy. I'm talking specifically of Slickrock.

Have fun.

Moab Valley is on our list for our next visit to Moab. We can't recommend the place where we stayed last time (A pricey place with an attitude just a bit down the road.), but we did admire Moab Valley from the highway. It looked nice. We'll be interested to see how you like it.

As far as Jeep rentals Farabee's and Cliffhanger are probably the two largest and have the best kept fleet. We have our own so I cannot comment on the rental experience from either one.

As far as campgrounds go we have stayed at Spanish Trail (south side of town) and Moab Valley RV Park and Portal at the northern part of town. We prefer either Moab Valley or Portal as they are a little closer to town and we like to go into town and walk around in the evenings.

The rental places also will have a list of trails that you are not allowed to take their rental Jeeps on so be mindful of that. It someones sees you in a rental Jeep on some of those trails they have been known to report to the rental places. There is not very many trails that are off-limits, only a few of the more extreme trails but I just wanted to make you aware. Still too many trails to list that are not restricted.

Mike.

At that time of the year it could get pretty toasty. Be sure to pack some extra drinking water for safe keeping. Never know if there could be a breakdown or down time for whatever reason. Have to keep those liquids flowing.
