Mojave Desert - Hole-in-the-Wall CG

We will be venturing out to the camping grounds in the Mojave Desert to a place called "Hole-in-the-Wall" for a long weekend on Dec. 14 - 17 th and was wondering if any of you have had experience there:
1. I understand this is wilderness camping with pit toilets and a dump station
2. More of a kick-back enjoy the views area
3. Some walking / hiking in the area

Since we will be taking our two puppies with (as we always do) and understanding that we have NEVER done solo camping in the desert, I have several questions (hopefully these aren't silly questions):
1. Is this area pron to scorpion and poisonous snack encounters
2. How cold does it get there in Dec.
3. What activities / sights should be be sure to take in

If anyone else is interested in joining us, there is plenty of room!!!!

Hole-in-the-wall is at 4400' above sea level, so I would assume very chilly nights, followed by cool days...or visa versa...

Snakes and other critters will most likely be hibernating because of the cold but still keep an eye out...

On edit - here are some nice photos:

The plants and animals that live there are extremely strong. It takes a lot to survive in the desert environment.

If you like the ambiance of Hole in the Wall you would also enjoy Valley of Fire State Park about 40 miles north of Las Vegas. Boondocking, or hook ups with water and power and a dump station. Landscape is awe inspiring with lots a biking areas. Just a suggestion and not too far from you and not as high. Might stay a little warmer. Would NOT recommend it in August😡
