Oh dear!

If one is going to Monument Valley, the ONLY place to stay is Gouldings! There may be other places to camp, but why???

The view from Gouldings cannot be beat!

I am going from Durango to MV (Gouldings) this week. I am planning on taking 160 west to 163 to Goulding. My wife is very nervous about roads with "drop-offs" on the side.... I want to keep her happy... Are 160 and 163 fairly benign roads for her?

I have driven it two times, first in a 38 foot motorhome and then in a 40 foot motorhome. All I remember it is a beautiful drive without any stress. Enjoy your trip.

In this same respect, after Monument Valley, we are going to Page,AZ Lake Powell via 160 to 89 north... Does anyone have any experience on this route?

Just don't take highway 550 north out of Durango. I know. My wife went into panic mode and ended up laying on the floor and making odd sounds.

Around the intersection of those Hwy's I remember a warning sign about water on the roadway during storms (in the middle of a flat dessert). Other than that, flat, brown, and quite boring.

We did it this summer in a 34 Daybreak pulling a Wrangler. It was kinda uneventful. Some hills but mostly a lot of nothing between them.
