We opted to watch the fireworks from Keystone instead of waiting all day long with the huge crowd. We went to the Alpine Ski lift/slides and watched them from the top. We had a great view, good food and music to go along with the show.

We went up to the monument the next day...

Dirk,
That's why you got sick. The last 100 feet is a killer.

I was sick when I did it, and had to stop several times climbing back up.

Was it worth it? Yes and no.

The experience was worth it.

Getting much sicker afterwards was not.

We are not into hiking so we didn't do the trail. We did go back for the lighting ceremony. That is something to see.

The only dissapointment was the number of boneheads who did not remove their hats during the national anthem.

Gary- We did not do the hike trail here or at the badlands. We were traveling with my mom who was in a wheelchair and we didn't want to all take off on her.
