Must see places Pensacola to Tampa, FL
Hello everyone and thanks ahead for your input.
I am planning on traveling along the Gulf Coast of FL from Pensacola to Tampa and would like to know what are your must see places and sites.
We love nature, hiking, local food and unusual and kitschy fun places. We will be there end of April to early May.
Thanks,
Stuart & Leslie

The Pensacola Lighthouse and The Naval Air Museum (close together at the Naval Air Station). Great walking trails on base.
Johnson Beach is nearby.
Lots of great restaurants downtown.

One of our favorite all time places to stay is Topsail Hill Preserve State Park 12 miles east of Destin on Santa Rosa Beach. Stay in the Pompass Loop area. The campground was once a private RV resort and is unlike other state Parks. The park has great bike riding and hiking, over 3 miles of deserted beach, and a great live music concert every Thursday night. Close by Stinky's Fish Camp also has great food.

From Panama city to perry Florida on 98. Old Florida. Appalachicola is great with some quirky restaurants. Once you get to Perry you could take 19 south. You may wish to stop at Crystal River. The manatees may still be there, I don't know.
If you get over to Ocala, go to Silver River State park, rent a canoe and have one of the greatest canoe paddles ever. Go towards Silver Springs.

Consider Ho Hum RV Park. If you stay, local food is the thing to do. Go to Ho Hum RV Park offers a quiet enviroment in a No Children Park. for details.
