We are planning a family trip to Myrtle Beach in May of next year. I am looking for suggestions on nice campgrounds with plenty to do for all ages (12 - 80 yrs old).

Ocean Lakes and Pirateland are both very nice campgrounds with a lot to do for all ages. Both are very large and fill up fast, so make your reservation early. Get on their web sites to see where you want to camp. Some sites lack a lot to be desired. Ocean front fill up first.

Ocean Lakes....plenty to do, great beach. Easy access to most of what makes Myrtle Beach a great family place.

At the north end, folks recommend Myrtle Beach Travel Park...apparently a bit more quiet than Ocean Lakes.

We just stayed at the Apache Campground in north Myrtle Beach. The nice thing about that campground is that they have a large pier and you get free admission when you stay in the park.

We stay at Lakewood each year. Big place with lots to do.If you book early you can get ocean sites.
We held a rally last year at the KOA. This was very nice and close to activities but not on the beach.

We rented a 'parked' unit at Myrtle Beach Travel Park several years ago. The place is massive in size, but a nice CG. We were on a end site with the ocean right across the road. The kids had a ball at the pool & gamerooms - it looks like they have added an indoor pool and 'lazy river' since our visit.

Have Fun,

Todd

I have stayed at Pirateland, Ocean lakes and Lakewood and have to say that Lakewood is my favourite.

Less congestion in the campground due to a better layout, wider roads, and big sites.

Loved the lazy river at Pirateland and the pavilions at each site but they cram you in tight because the roadways are very narrow.

Ocean lakes is nice as well especially if you like pull thrus.

Lots to do at any of these campgrounds.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have looked at all of them and looks like they would all be nice to stay at. Since we are going in mid May, it looks like most of the pools and outdoor water parks are still closed that time of year until Memorial Day weekend.
