Any suggestions on this area? Has anyone stayed at Willow Tree Resort?

Absolutely beautiful resort. A bit pricey during peak season but immaculately clean and peaceful. A short drive to highway 31 will get you to the myrtle beach attractions.

We have stayed at Lakewood which was nice. Spent a week there
last year. Lots of activities and right on beach. Ocean lakes on one side and I think it was pirates cove on the other. Both also seemed nice and they are close in to all of the MB activities.

We've stayed at Pirateland. It's a big park with lots of amenities right on the edge of the beach.

Looks like a nice place, I guess it would depend on if you want to get in your car to go to beach or step out your front door.

We have reservations at the MB KOA for the 3rd week in June. We have never been to that area so we will see. When do you all plan on going?

If you want to go to the beach in my opinion it would be to far to walk from KOA.

You should checkout Myrtle Beach State Park and/or Huntington Beach State Park. Many shady spots, both are or have added many FHU sites. Great beaches, close to great seafood, wonderful golf courses, and if you feel the need plenty of touristy areas to spend your money. MBSP is in the same area as the commercial parks mentioned above, HBSP is a few more miles south on 17 between Murrells INlet and Pawleys Island.

We have stayed at Myrtle Beach Travel Park twice and were pleased. It is right on the beach. You can walk from your site to the beach. Willow Tree is about 15 minutes away.

We have stayed at Myrtle Beach Travel Park many times over the last 30 years. Last year we went Labor Day Weekend for 10 nights. After Labor Day it is the "Gray Hair" season. Much less traffic and crowds. From the 2nd week in June till the 3rd week in August it will be busy, Period.
Rates go from $84 (+ 10% bed tax) to $58 (+ bed tax) after Labor Day. Plus pay for 6 get one night free after Labor Day.

FYI. KOA has a free shuttle to the beach. It's only like 3 blocks away.

Since I live near Myrtle Beach, and if your priority is going to the beach, and you'll be coming in summer, I strongly recommend finding a campground ON the beach. The traffic on 17 can be a nightmare during the summer trying to get to and from the beach.
