I'm a native Northern Californian and just got a very nice surprise here in Napa Valley. The Napa Valley area has been pretty thin on options when it comes to RV parks but this newly renovated facility is more than impressive. Napa Valley Expo

Everything is new... the sites are mostly pull throughs... 30x85 feet by my measure... half is beautiful lawn... half is concrete pad.... free wifi....Kenny the friendly camp host... acreas of open lawn area for the dogs... and, the beautiful Napa Valley and those wonderful resturants.

We only have a few days to spend here this time but we've already decided to add at least 2 weeks per year here when we build our annual travel plans.

Enjoy...

Rick

Thanks Rick, we have been planning a trip to the Napa Valley and Napa Valley Expo seems to be the only RV park in the area. Sure glad that it has been renvated.

Thanks for the update. Sounds better and more reasonable than Petaluma KOA.

There are very few RV parks in Napa Valley. The Expo grounds are in the city of Napa, near the south end of the valley. For Elks members, the Napa Elks Club has 12 RV spaces with 30A E/W/S (two of the sites have 50A); this is also in the city of Napa.

At the north end of the valley, there are RV spaces at the Napa County Fairgrounds in Calistoga. Not nearly so nice as the Expo Grounds in Napa, and not as expensive, either.

A couple of area parks have rustic camping, but will accommodate smaller rigs only.

We drove through the campgrounds at the fairgrounds in Calistoga and are certainly going to give them a try as well. If we read the info on their board correctly though, it would have actually cost us more to stay there after the $2/day/pet got added to their $30/$33 nightly rate. Either way, they are pretty close in price and both excellent options we're going to work into our travel plans next year.

I'm pretty sure they are. It's the latter part of December and they were both open this week. It probably would be a good stop on a trip south but understand that Napa is a bit off the beaten path of the interstates so probably not great for an overnight stop.

The Expo grounds website shows a rate of $40/night for E/W/S hookups. A couple of user-contributor review sites say the RVers paid $36/night, so they apparently have a 10% discount available, which can often be a Good Sam, AAA or AARP discount.

The Expo Grounds site doesn't state the amperage, but I seem to recall that with the upgrade of their RV facilities (within the past 2-3 years) they added 50A service. Can't be positive on that, though.

The sites at the Napa County Fairgrounds in Calistoga are either 30A E/W or 30A E/W/S sites.

Yep, the Expo grounds is Good Sam and I believe all sites are now 50 amp.
Thanks for the clarification on the Calistoga grounds. I thought the two different prices listed might be for 30 vs 50 amp but see now that's not the case.
