Narragansett RI (jealous yet!)

Just finished a bowl of N.E.Clam chowder and 1/2 dozen clam cakes. We'll be at Fisherman's State Park all week, working on our sunburns, and sucking up the fresh ocean air.

Just were there

We were at Fisherman's earlier this month. Of course, we're lucky and only live 45 mins away - nice little getaway!

Enjoy!

PS - our avatar was taken at Fisherman's :-)

Day tripped to Fisherman's Memorial SP a month ago. What a beautiful spot can't wait to spend more time there in the Winnebago. Which area do you prefer upper park or lower park?

A little better views of the water from the lower, they have sewer hook ups as well and cost $5. a night more.

My wife tells me their site says they are booked through October but they usually seem to be able to find a spot for the night then play site shuffle if you want a few more days.

They do have a dump site by the entrance.

Well theirs four sections, #1 the most popular!(lower). Section #2 sites closer together not that level, some odd configurations?(upper). Section # 3 tent sites. Section #4 roomier sites, less foot traffic. (front) My pick!

We prefer section #1 also - full hookups, most sites (if not all) are pull-thru, and the views are gorgeous (stunning sunsets). But it does fill up fast! We tend to camp there early in the season and if we can fit in - towards the end.

Section #2 has some seriously un-level sites - not sure what they were thinking when they designed the campground!

We also love section #4. It is closer to the entrance (a bit noisier), but some of the sites are HUGE with nice privacy and they're pull-thru. Not all are, so you need to do some research. No sewer connection in this section, but it's worth it if #1 is full.

My only real complaint with Fisherman's are the bathrooms. Even though we have our own, when we camp in #4 we use the bathrooms occasionally for longer stays. They REALLY need to upgrade these facilities.

I think you will find site two is mostly the original ground contour and the start up of the campground around that area was done on a fiscal shoestring but I could not prove it if I had to.
