What would be the best way to bypass Nashville from east interstate 40 to west interstate 40? Thanks for any info.

840 is the southern loop bypassing Nashville, we took it twice this summer. I believe it is a fairly new highway, great condition, beautiful views. I had an older map atlas that did not show it, found it on Google Maps. Saved a lot of time, but we did not get to see Nashville whatsoever.

That's why Firebug5 missed Nashville.

Missed it by a LONG shot! Next time, we will drive right into the middle of Nashville. Don't you just hate being in a hurry! I know, I know, slow down and smell the roses, in Nashville. . . . .

As long as you don't hit at rush hour and construction isn't to bad, it's an OK drive. 840 has nicer scenery.

This week I took the 440 loop to avoid through town. Saves miles over 840. But do suggest 440 during 9 am to 3 pm, if unable to do those times then take 840. Stayed at very nice COE campground Percy Priest lake on east side of town.
