The DW and I are planning a spring trip to South Carolina and are thinking about making a stop in natchez, MS along the way. Can anyone recommend a campground in natchez. We weren't thinking of taking our tow vehicle as when we get to SC we will be at our kids. Will we need a separte vehcile in natchez?
Thanks in advance for all of the help, I love this forum.

We stayed at Riverview RV Park and Resort a few years ago. It was a really nice place ... you could watch the tugs and barges go up and down the river right from your rig ... we were there during the winter and there were enormous swarms of black birds ...
There are several interesting Civil War era mansions in the area ... and a few miles up river on the Louisiana side there is an original cotton plantation with slave quarters and a working cotton gin ...

We concur on Riverview RV Park (it is actually on the west bank of the river across from Natchez), the antebellum mansions and a really great BBQ place called the Pig Out. You are also at the start of Natchez Trace Parkway. Take it to Jackson and then continue east on I-20 if that is not out of your way. Personally, I wouldn't do Natchez without a toad but you probably can get a rental from Enterprise. The town offers interesting boutiques as some shop owners moved up river after Katrina hit New Orleans.

I just stayed in Riverview RV Park Monday and Tuesday night. $80 for two nights. kind of high. Stay in the far side park. Too much dust in front one. No cable. $5 extra for 50 amp. Not a bad park. Natchez visitor center just across river. Can buy tour tickets for old mansions.

Rent a car, there is just too much to see in Natchez to miss. There are more antebellem homes there than you can wrap your mind around in one trip. A good starter three would be Stanton Hall (have lunch at the Carriage House Restaurant and Lounge on the grounds), Rosalie, and Longwood. The Sandbar Restaurant just across the river in Vidalia used to be a great place for supper. Enjoy your trip.

We stayed at the state park there and it was really nice. You are at the start of the natchez trace and you should go ahead as you will be there. You do need a car to do natchez, but it is such a nice place to visit.

Ditto Faye. We also stayed at Natchez SP, loop B had been completely upgraded. We paid the senior rate of $13 for a 50 amp and water backin site on a slab. Woodalls has it as a 32' limit, 40+ footers can go there with no problem. A car is a must for driving the Trace and seeing some of the many points of interest on it.
