National Parks, how many have you been to?

I love our National Parks, I want to visit as many of them as I can. So far I've been to eight.

Acadia, Maine

Everglades, Florida

Glacier, Montana. When I was a kid, I need to go back

Great Smoky Mountains, North Carolina & Tennessee

Shenandoah, Virginia

Yellowstone, when I was a kid, I need to go back

Yosemite, California

Zion, Utah. I didn't get to do the Narrows trail so I have to go back, it was to cold and the water was too high.

My family and I went on a little trip back in 2010. We tried to see as many National Parks, Monuments and Recreation Areas as we could on a round robin trip from Phoenix AZ. Here's where we went:

1. Petrified Forest NP, AZ.
2. Canyon de Chelly NM, AZ.
3. Natural bridges NM, UT.
4. Glen Canyon NRA, UT.
5. Canyonlands NP, UT.
6. Arches NP, UT.
7. Flaming Gorge NRA, UT.
8. Grand Teton NP, WY.
9. Yellowstone NP, WY.
10. Newberry National Volcanic Monument, OR.
11. Crater Lake NP, OR.
12. Redwoods NP, CA.
13. Golden Gate NRA, CA.
14. Yosemite NP, CA.
15. Grand Canyon NP, AZ. (north and south rims)

The whole trip took place in 14 days...
(yeah, I like to drive)

We've been to a few others, but not at such a fast pace. Hoping to revisit some of these (a bit slower) in the near future.

Wow, that sounds like a great trip. I wish more of the National Parks were on the East Coast so they weren't so far away.

I guess I count differently. I've to most that have been mentioned here and then some and they all count. I've never been to one that didn't.

We've hit 3 in the last week on this leg of our trip from Phoenix to Craig, CO. (West of Steamboat Springs).

1. Grand Canyon
2. Mesa Verde
3. Arches

We were talking about this last night, and each was so unique, not sure which we liked best!

Don't cut yourselves short. You may have been to more "National Parks" than you remember.

Have you ever picked up one of those "Passport to Your National Parks" Books?" I was just looking over the National Park System Map and Guide, checking off places we have visited.

Yes, the BIG national parks are what we will always remember, but there are many smaller parks and monuments you may have forgotten are NPS protected. Have ya ever toured Washington, DC? All of those places. The Everglades? Boston? The Smokies? A cruise to Alaska - Glacier Bay?
A Revolutionary War or Civil War battlefield? A presidential library and museum? They are all a National Park or Monument, etc., etc.

Over the past (many) years we have been blessed with the desire, ability and means to travel this great country.

On the National Park System Guide we are able to check off 107 sites visited from Maine to Florida and the Caribbean, Alaska and Hawaii.
Oh, yes - we got to a number in Canada, also.

Past two summers...36 National Parks including Denali and Wrangell-St. Elias NPs to the North(representing ten and a half months of travel, over 26K MH miles and 21K miles of back roads in the Wrangler) to Everglades NP in the South. 39 if we count being in Mt. Ranier NP and the Smokies without the RV. Not one was a disappointment ...they ARE all NPs for a reason. Bob

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Michigan - very cool. I think that's the only one we've been to. We're from Canada, and enjoy staying at the state parks.

Wow, I'm jealous. It always seems funny how you can be driving past tons of beautiful scenery, but when you get to a National Park it's just sooo much more amazing.

We love the state parks too, so much nicer than private campgrounds.
