Nebraska RV parks?

We will soon start back to the east and have decided to use I-80 for travel thru the Midwest. We've avoided NE on our two previous trips to the West but will drive thru it this time.

So, looking for recommendations of places to stay along the way. I am a Cabelas's fan and have overnighted in their lots so I know that is an option in Sidney and Kearny.

My DW and I did a trip out west in 2011, to visit Rocky Mountain NP and Yellowstone NP. Going out we took I80 and home we took I90. We stayed in a State Recreation Area in Gibbon NE; which is a little east of KEARNY NE. The SRA was called Windmill SRA and had great reviews in RV park reviews on this SRA. Here is a link to the park.

We also stayed in a KOA park in Adel IA; but that’s another story on this same trip.

We like Pine Grove in Greenwood, NE (exit 420) and Cabela's Campground in Sidney.

We liked the Robidoux campground owned by the City of Gering, NE. Quiet, not many trees but lots of lawn space between the paved, FHU sites. Close to Scottsbluff and Scottsbluff NM is seen to the west of the campground.

Enjoy your trip. Safe travels.

Depending on your route we have stayed at Lake McConaughy just north of Ogallala and it is a pretty nice lake with miles of sand beaches. Do NOT walk anywhere in grass without shoes! I don't care how bad you have to go to the bathroom!! The sand burrs are atrocious!! If you have time follow the Oregon Trail and see windlass hill. Unbelievable sights out there.

I avoid Neb. state parks. Not only do they charge for the campsite, but they charged me for a day pass for both the motor home AND the car. We stayed at the doublenickle when it was a passport Ameria campground. The Cabella in Sidney is nice.

I80 follows the Railroad and it has trains nearly every 15 minutes or so. If you are anywhere near a crossing the whistles blow all night long. Land nearby tends to draw campgrounds and a good nights sleep is impossible. So, any campground on the North of I80 needs a good look at where the tracks are!

In Minden, NE about 10 miles South of I-80 is the Harold Warp Museum of mans progress. They also have a CG, Motel and Resturant next door.

Holiday RV park in North Platte. Stayed there last September, and was great! We have a 38ft fiver, no problems at all.

If your just traveling through, sounds like you have your stops already picked out. After you stay in Kearney, your only 3 hrs from Iowa. It takes less then 7 hrs to drive across the whole state. If your looking to stay, then use the suggestions that others have offered.

Try the c.o.e. campground south of Kearney, at Alma, on hwy 183, very nice park and they have some full hookups and some with just water and electric. nice view of the lake, we stayed there last September, if we are out that way again, will stay there.. big level sights..
