Need advice...travel from Mt Rushmore to Boise in Nov..bad idea?

Hello everyone, we have never traveled outside of the Southeast and are planning a trip from Florida to Boise, ID in late Oct through mid Nov. We'd like to visit Mt Rushmore and travel through Yellowstone to Boise. After doing some research, I learned travel through Yellowstone that time of year is probably out due to park road closures. Now we are considering traveling south of Yellowstone through the Teton National Forest to Boise.

Can anyone provide any feedback as to whether this would be a bad idea due to weather in that area during that time of year? We'll be driving a 43' diesel pusher towing a car trailer with an SUV so I don't think power would be an issue. Mainly concerned with road conditions.

Thanks very much!

Last winter it started to snow in September....higher altitudes had ice on the roads from October through the rest of the winter....we traveled from Yellowstone to PA in the middle of October on I 90....not too much traffic but the howling winds and icey road conditions made it a white knuckle drive...

As you can see at the bottom of this official national park link, the roads will close by early November. If you can get to Yellowstone mid-October that would be great. We've been there at that time and had wonderful weather but as you know, you just can't count on the weather. It can snow at that time, also.

If this is a definite time for you to travel, I would just keep a close watch on the weather as you travel and be prepared for Plan B. If you can, adjust your trip to an earlier timeframe. Good luck!
