If you are going to Emory then Stone Mountain is your best bet. Just follow US 78 into town from the park, cross I-285 and bear to the right. I know of no other CG any closer, but the morning traffic can be a bi**h.

I don't remember the name of the campground, but is just off I 85 at Indian Trail Rd, which is maybe 5 miles from Emory. It is not a destination, just a place to stop overnight. It is a private campground. But this would be very close to Emory.

Thanks for the feeback, I was thinking Stone Mtn, but didn't know if there was anything else. When I have to do a week there, I go to Thousand Trails at the SC border , but that is 90 miles each way.

There are two campgrounds at exit 198 on I 75. One on the east and one on the west. There is also a campground at exit 205 on the westside of I 75. Flying J, TA, Hess and Loves is at exit 201.
